A 50 minute demonstration was given to Physics 11 and Physics 12AP at Collingwood School, West Vancouver.
This demonstration relates pressure to force and area. The root of the demonstration focuses on a platform of nails spaced evenly in grid formation. We will see that as the area over which a force is applied increases, the pressure will, consequently, decrease. Because of this, something as delicate as a balloon is able to sustain a (surprising!) amount of force without being punctured, as shown in the image above.
